Book Five

Chapter Ninteen
Sakura's father borrowed a collegue's summer house and is taking his children and Yukito on vacation. When they arrive Fujitaka suggests that Sakura look around and see the other summer houses in the area. Sakura and Kero find the biggest summer house in the area and meet an elderly gentleman who asks who she is and where she is from. She tells him she is visiting the summer house down away and the man invites her to tea. When she returns to her father she tells him about the nice old man she met at the big house and how he invited her again for tea tomorrow. Though somewhat shocked, her father suggests she go again. The next day her father gives her some cookies to give to the old man as present and she heads off for the big house again. The old man invites her in for tea as a thank you for reminding him of his grandaughter. Sakura asks about his grandaughter only to learn she has died, for which Sakura is extremely sorry. The man says not to be and should smile, Sakura then gives him the cookies her father made and the man asks a few questions about him. Next he takes her to his grandaughter's old room and gives her his grandaughter's old dress, remarking she looks a lot like her. Sakura says she couldn't accept such a generous gift, but the man insists, saying his grandaughter would have wanted it. She spots a drawing he said his grandaughter made of a rainbow, and he says the girl loved watching rainbows from the veranda. Sakura rushes home to show her family the lovely dress the man gave her and when talking with Kero-chan think of a way to thank the man for his kindness. The next day she comes over to let the old man know that she has to leave soon but when she leaves he must look out on the veranda. She also tells him that she's sure his grandaughter is probably in a beautiful place, just like her mother is. When she leaves she uses the Watery card to create a rainbow. The man is delighted since it looks just like his grandaughter's picture. As it turns out, the old man is really Sakura's great grandfather and the grandaughter he misses so terribly is Nadeshiko, Sakura's mother.
Chapter Twenty
Sakura's class is doing the play Sleeping Beauty with Mizuki-sensei helping and the cast is randomly selected. When Syaoran writes his name on the line, Mizuki-sensei warns him to wait a little longer, really freaking him out. The teacher peels away the roles to reveal that Sakura got the role of the Prince, while Shaoran will play Princess Aurora! Either way Tomoyo is happy to make the costumes but Kero is horrified. Sakura says it was Mizuki-sensei's idea ot have it be random, giving everyone an equal chance at the role. Sakura also remarks that Mizuki-sensei gave Shaoran a warning to be careful, which Kero-chan finds suspitious since there is a strong sense of magic in the city and says he will come with Sakura to the pageant. Though Kero-chan says he wants to investigate, Sakura suspects it's because he wants to see the play. It's the day of the play and Touya and Yukito have come to watch and wonder what roles the kids all get. Backstage everyone is getting ready and while Sakura is happy with her costume, Shaoran refuses to come out in drag. Tomoyo finally manages to convince him by saying Yukito will be watching and the play begins. Touya and Yukito watch with some disbelief seeing all the gender bending and are especially shocked to see Shaoran as the princess. However, upon seeing Yukito in the audience, starts overacting. Sakura's part is next and though she sees Yukito too, her acting is much better. Meanwhile Tomoyo continues to do the narration when suddenly Mizuki-sensei comes in, saying she wants to talk to the one with strong power hiding behind Tomoyo's script. Tomoyo tries to hide Kero-chan, but he says it's no use since Mizuki-sensei already sensed him. Back on stage Sakura gets to point where she must kiss the princess, causing Touya to have a psychotic episode. But before she can kiss Shaoran, the stage becomes suddenly very dark.
Chapter Twenty-one
The entire auditorium is enveloped in darkness and Shaoran warns Sakura it's the work of a Clow card, but before he can say anymore, he too is swallowed by the darkness. Back in the control room Mizuki-sensei and Kero-chan talk, and Kero says she has the power of the Moon and she says when she was born there was another who watched over Clow's things, Yue. She says she has come to Tomoeda because she will know what will happen in the end and is going to help Sakura. Kero-chan says Sakura will be fine on her own, Mizuki-sensei agrees. Meanwhile Sakura is searching through the darkness for her friends but finds no matter how far she runs, she is going no where. Sakura is worried about her friends but realizing being scared and sad won't do anything since this is the work of a Clow Card. Sakura summons her wand and uses Wood to look around but finds wood is just as unable to search the darkness as she was. She realizes the card's name, but though weakened the Dark is not dispelled. Suddenly Sakura realizes she can see herself, which is odd since she shouldn't be able to shine any light if pitch black darkness. Kero-chan and Mizuki-sensei begin to worry since the Dark card is one of Yue's greatest followers and the darkness begins to swallow Sakura again. Sakura panics for a moment before realizing everything will be okay and she begins to light up again and realizes she was able to see herself because of the light. Suddenly a Clow Card appears and says she is the Light card, Keroberos' greatest supporter and had stayed in Sakura's heart until she was needed. She asks Sakura what gets rid of darkness. Sakura answers 'light' and the Light card dispels all the darkness around her and Dark card reveals its true form. The Light tells Sakura that she will no longer be against Dark if Sakura passes the test of Clow Card Mastery. Sakura asks what that is and the cards say it is a test against Yue, and Sakura remembers that is the word Kero-chan says in his sleep. Sakura seals the card and asks who Yue is, they say he is someone close to her but she will be okay because her heart is full of light and believes everything will always be alright. Suddenly everything and everyone returns to normal, though people are confused as to what happened. Kero-chan asks if Mizuki-sensei will get in the way, but she says her role is something different.
Chapter Twenty-three
Sakura has a dream of a beautiful moon and a person she knows before being waken up by her teacher: she had fallen asleep in class. The teacher is not mad and tells her to go home. Tomoyo asks if Sakura is okay, she says she is but is having strange visions recently but whenever she asks Kero-chan about it, he goes off to think. She also has been sensing strange things and Shaoran comes to tell her he has too and the compass board is acting strangely, meaning something strong is nearby. Yukito comes over and invites them to have some cake. He tells them they did a good job during the play, but found it odd when the play went pitch black. Suddenly Touya comes over with the cake they ordered and when Sakura remarks how much she likes the cake, Shaoran starts blushing and runs off to Tomoyo's table. Suddenly Mizuki-sensei comes in and asks if she can speak with Sakura, once agian Shaoran is concerned, but Sakura is delighted to talk with the teacher. She has come to warn Sakura about the disaster that will befall the world if the Clow Cards aren't sealed. She then asks Sakura if she knows anything about Yue, and Sakura says only that it is what Kero-chan says in his sleep and what the cards said. And like Dark and Light had said, Mizuki-chan tells Sakura he someone close to her. Shaoran is concerned with Sakura hanging out with Mizuki-sensei and Tomoyo wonders aloud why he'd care about someone who is supposed to be his rival. Sakura, Yukito and Mizuki-sensei go to get some more cake and Mizuki begins to ask Yukito some questions and tells him to take good care of Touya for her. Yukito takes Sakura's hand to get a piece of cake and Sakura notices she gets the same happy feeling from him she gets from Mizuki-sensei. Back at Sakura's house Kero-chan is still concerned about Yue, for as he gets stronger with each new card, so does Yue and found his presense strongest at the play. Back at the cafe everyone leaves and Tomoyo tells Shaoran that it will be hard to tell Sakura, but Shaoran refuses to acknowledge what she means. Sakura tells Shaoran that Mizuki-sensei knows about the Clow Cards and Shaoran immediately suspects she might be after them herself. Sakura then asks what Shaoran knows about Yue and he says Yue is the Clow Book's other guardian but there is little known about him. Shaoran explains that Keroberos was on the front and Yue was on he back of the Clow Book, but Sakura says there was no moon symbol on the back of the book indicating Yue. Shaoran suspects only Kero-chan and Yue know the truth but before they can discuss it further, flames form around Sakura, Shaoran, Yukito and Mizuki-sensei.
