Book Nine

Chapter Thirty-Six
Sakura goes off to meet Tomoyo to exchange and receive White Day presents, but before leaving Sakura's father gives her a backpack. As Sakura is on her way to Tomoyo's she runs into Eriol. Eriol explains Valentine's Day is different in England, where guys give more gifts to girls than vice versa. Hearing this news Sakura is worried that Eriol didn't get any Valentine's Day chocolate, but Eriol reassures Sakura he did. Sakura wonders who it was but Eriol says only that it was a beautiful person. They come to a crossing and part ways and Sakura finds Tomoyo and gives her a bag she sewed. Back at Syaoran's house the young wizard is still trying to figure out who owned the coat he found on Sakura, but finds himself unable to. Sakura comes over to give Syaoran a White Day present in exchange for the chocolate she recieved from him, but Syaoran asks how she knew they were from him. Sakura says she just knows. She gives Syaoran her gift and says she's glad they became friends, and tells Syaoran she bets whoever he likes now likes him just as much, still completely oblivious to the fact that it's her he likes. Touya goes over to visit Yuki and sees him passed out in his garden. Yukito says he was trying to give Sakura her White Day present, but he's been really tired recently. Touya wishes him to realize who he really is, because his body is beginning to fade. After being called by Sonomi, Fujitaka meets Sakura's greatgrandfather in the park and he asks him to give Sakura his White Day present. He also has come to apologize for being so cruel to Fujitaka even though he took Nadeshiko away. Fujitaka says he's glad and believes Nadeshiko is happy too. Nadeshiko's ghost watches over the scene, as does Eriol. Sakura returns home and her father give her the present from her great grandfather. The gift is a dress and Sakura immediately tries it on. The dress reminds Sakura of the gift from the old man at the summer house and wonders if she will ever meet her great grandfather. Fujitaka assures her she will.
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Sakura is thrilled over the watch she recieved from Yukito for White Day, but is still worried about him. When she comes home she finds a letter from Mizuki-sensei and goes to her room to read it. Mizuki-sensei's letter is vague and unhelpful towards Sakura's current problems, but a second page says everyone loves her and she'll be fine with her invincible spell. Sakura remembers a similar statement when she spoke with the ghost of Clow Reed after the Final Judgement. Happy to have Mizuki-sensei's incouragement, Sakura decides to make a great dinner, but when she goes downstairs she finds her brother and poor Yukito completely passed out! Sakura asks if Yukito is okay, and Touya tells her to make him something to eat so he can get some energy when he wakes up. Kero checks in Yukito, wondering why Sakura's magic is not supporting Yue, and is worried that when Yue disappears, Yukito will too. Yukito finally wakes up and eats dinner with Sakura and Touya and afterwards Sakura goes to make tea. Touya tries to tell Yukito what is happening, but Sakura interrupts them again (that guy can't catch a break, can he?). Touya tells Yukito to stay with Sakura until he returns from work so he can walk Yukito home. Yukito agrees and he and Sakura do homework together. Sakura is thrilled but notices something strange about Yukito's body. Suddenly Sakura senses Clow Reed's presense and toghet with Syaoran and Tomoyo they go to the park and find the Penguin slide moved aside from a giant hole. Sensing the aura from the hole, Sakura uses Fly to investigate it. When Kero tries to go in after her, a shield appears blocking him. Both Keroberos and Syaoran try to break through it, but are unable to. Sakura tries to figure out what's up with the hole when a sheep toy falls on her head, she finds it odd, but cute. Suddenly many sheep toys bury Sakura! Tomoyo and the others hear Sakura scream and Syaoran gets determined to break through. The whole event is watched by Eriol, Ruby Moon and Spinel Sun and the two guardians ask if Syaoran is too much in the way. Eriol remarks he can put up with interference if he gets what he wants in the end. Sakura tires to figure out which card to use to get rid of the sheep and Sakura transforms the Erase card. Sakura escapes the hole but has to use Earthy to fill the hole or people would notice. Then uses Windy to move the slide back into place. Eriol is impressed with Sakura's good ideas and Spinel asks him why not just tell Sakura what he wants. Eriol said he would, but what he wants is something no one would anticipate.
Chapter Thirty-eight
During gym Tomoyo notices Sakura is not as tired and figures she is getting stronger. The teacher calls everyone over and says that today will be one-on-one basketball the first pairing being Syaoran and Eriol. At first Eriol beats Syaoran, making Syaoran furious to lose in front of Sakura. But Eriol decides to help him out and tells him to stay calm and not lose sight of what he wants. The advice helps, but it leaves Syaoran more suspitious of Eriol than ever. At the high school Yukito is still trying to figure out why he feels so bad when he suddenly spots Eriol over the fence. Yukito immediately turns into Yue and approaches Eriol and calls him 'Clow'. Eriol casts a spell on him to make him sleep, explaining he must keep his ambitions secret from Yue and Keroberos, and Yue is almosy out of magic and should get it from the suitable person near him. He erases Yue's memory and Yukito wakes up over the fence as confused as ever. Touya runs over to see if Yukito is okay and notices Eriol seems a lot like his own father. Eriol thinks Yue needs to realize his other form's heart soon. At Tomoyo's house Tomoyo talks to Syaoran and plays the film from the evening before when he tried to break through the magic shield. Syaoran still refuses to tell Sakura how he feels about her because there is someone she likes besides him. Tomoyo says to tell her soon because she has a lot of people that like her. Syaoran says like Eriol, but Tomoyo suspects Eriol's feelings aren't romantic. Sakura comes out of the dressing room with a new costume and spots the footage of Syaoran being so worried, but doesn't understand what it means. Sakura senses Clow s presense again, this time from her school. While Kero-chan goes on a tirade from not being invited to Tomoyo's for snacks, Syaoran begins to think there is nothing he can do to help Sakura, Tomoyo tells him to have confidence. They find the source of the magic in an empty classroom, but when they go back out the same door they came, it leads to a different area. Each time they open the door a new room or hallway takes the previous area's place. Sakura steps through the door again, but before Tomoyo can follow the door closes behind Sakura. Sakura opens the door again but Tomoyo has disappeared!
Chapter Thirty-nine
Sakura begins frantically opening classroom doors to search for Tomoyo and begins to cry. Syaoran tells her to calm down and think where the art room is located. Neither Syoaran nor Kero can think of a solution to put the classrooms back in the right place and Sakura begins to worry that Tomoyo is scared. Suddenly Sakura hears Tomoyo singing and gets an idea to use Shadow to find Tomoyo's shadow, and create a path to her. They finally find her and Sakura asks if Tomoyo was scared. Tomoyo says she wasn't because she'd know Sakura would find her. The only thing Tomoyo was upset about was missing the event on film. Kero offers to give her an interview and Sakura thanks Syaoran for not letting her cry. Syaoran decides now is the time to tell her how he feels, but before he can, Kero-chan drags her over. The next day Sakura compliments Eriol's art skills and remarks that he reminds her a lot of her father and says one day the two must meet. Eriol says he'd like that. Tomoyo tells Syaoran to try to tell Sakura how he feels again because of the interruption yesterday. Sakura comes over and asks to be told what Syaoran was going to say since she didn't have a chance to listen yesterday. Tomoyo walks off and Syaoran is left high and dry. And as Syaoran is just about to spit out how he feels, Sakura hears screaming from the high school. Yukito passed out again in the middle of gym and Touya takes him to the infirmary. Touya tries to tell Yukito something again, and is once again interrupted by Nakuru. This time he refuses to let her get in the way and says he is going to stay by Yukito. Nakuru warns him he'll fail the gym test, but when Yukito looks so sick, Touya says he's not going anywhere. Nakuru is furious to be rejected by Touya and stomps off to be chastised by Suppi. Back in the infirmary Touya tells Yukito he's not human. Upon hearing this, Yue reveals himself. Yue says he couldn't transform in front of Touya because Yukito didn't know about himself and didn't realize his feelings for Touya until he was about to leave. Yue says Sakura cannot support him and the only way for him to survive is if Touya gives him his magic, but if he does he won't be able to see his mother. Touya doesn't care, he only says that Yue must protect Sakura since he won't be able to. Touya makes Yue promise to protect Sakura and himself and Yue agrees. Yue takes Touya's powers and notices it is similar to Clow's and wonders if it is because he is Sakura's brother. Now drained of his magic, Touya passes out and Yue wishes he could have thanked him.
