Book Nine

Chapter Forty
As it turns out, Sakura heard the conversation between Yue and Touya and feels extremely guilty for her power not being strong enough and forcing Touya to sacrifice his magic. Yue tells Sakura not to feel guilty because Clow Reed's magic was unmatched and she is still a kid. Sakura understands and thanks her brother for his sacrifice and promises to always protect him like he protected her. Sakura also remarks Yue is kind, and Yue doesn't understand why people keep saying that, insisting it is Yukito that's the nice one. Sakura says Yukito and Yue are completely the same, but before Yue can argue again he sense Clow Reed's magic. Sakura feels it too and Eriol remarks that Sakura's powers will get stronger now and he must hurry with his task. The next day Sakura's teacher reminds the class about the school fair on Sunday but Sakura seems somewhat upset. When Sakura comes home she asks Kero-chan if he knew about Yue and his lack of powers. Kero confesses he did but didn't want Sakura to worry and therefore didn't tell her. He wanted to make sure she was okay because the two were friends and he cares about her. Kero then asks Sakura how she knew and Kero tells her about her brother and the incident at the high school. Kero tells Sakura her brothers powers were a lot like Clow's and Kero-chan didn't wake up in the Clow Book until someone with similar magic to Clow's came to Tomoeda. He also finds it odd Sakura's powers are stronger than Shaoran's, though Shaoran is actually related to Clow through blood. Just then the doorbell rings and Yukito has brought Touya home. Yukito begins to leave to cover Touya's shift at work and Sakura asks him to come to the school fair. He says yes and at the fiar Sakura, and the rest of her class are working as waiters and waitresses. Yukito comes and he and Sakura go to another class's project, the 'star road'. As they're walking, Yukito asks if Touya is okay yet, and Sakura remarks he is still asleep. Being that the two are alone, Sakura finds it the perfect time to confess her crush to Yukito. She tells him he loves her and he says he loves her too--but not in the same way. He says he loves her more like a father, and Sakura loves him the same way. Yukito says he loves someone else, and Sakura says it's Touya. Yukito says yes but wonders if Touya feels the same way about him. Sakura says yes, because he sacrificed his magic so Yue could survive. Yukito doesn't understand what she meant but Sakura says she is happy for the two of them and tells Yukito is Touya ever becomes mean to have her beat him up. Yukito tells her if she finds the person she loves, to tell him so if he ever does anything to hurt her, he can beat him up for her. Suddenly all the lights on Star Road begin to explode and Yukito becomes Yue to protect her.
Chapter Forty-one
Back in the restaurant Shaoran senses something and runs off to find Sakura with Tomoyo chasing after him. Back on the Star Road Yue says he knows for a fact Clow is around, which Sakura cannot understand since she thought Clow was dead. Sensing someone coming, Sakura transforms the Illusion and Maze card to hide her activities. She follows the power to behind a curtain and finds Eriol holding a magic staff. But using so much magic she passes out. Shaoran finds Yue in the spell Sakura cast, but the spell stops and the Star Road returns to normal, making Shaoran and Yue greatly concerned. Sakura is transported to a vision of Clow Reed's past. Clow Reed tells Yue and Keroberos that he is going to die, making the two guardians furious because Clow Reed is powerful and has already lived for hundreds of years. Clow tells them all things must end at one point and the two guardians will learn to love a new master. Keroberos and Yue make it quite clear they want no such thing. Clow tells Yue he can judge their new master while Keroberos can select the candidate. Yue and Keroberos still argue, but Clow says he poured all his heart into creating them and wants them to be happy after he dies. He seals the two of them away in the Clow book and with a final act of magic, seperates himself into two people. Sakura wakes up outside with the transformed Sakura cards in her hand. Shaoran asks if she is okay and Sakura says she had a dream. She returns home and tells Kero-chan about her dream and Kero tells her that he lived in the house she saw in her dream, but Clow must have tampered with his memories because he remembers Clow's death differently. Yukito wakes for Touya to wake up and then Touya tell Yukito about his other form Yue, but says that changes absolutely nothing about how he feels about him. Later, Sakura and Shaoran go shopping and Syaoran offers to walk her home but Sakura suggests going to the park. In the park Sakura tells Shaoran what happened with Yukito, how she told him she loved him but he told her she really loves someone else. Sakura wonders who that is and understand she loves Yukito differently than romantic love. She is also happy that Yukito loves someone and his happiness is her happiness, like Tomoyo said, but she still can't help crying. Shaoran offers Sakura his hankerchief. Sakura says she hopes she finds the person she loves most and Shaoran assures her she will.
Chapter Forty-two
The next day Sakura is back to her cheerful self and spots Shaoran's hankerchief and feels even happier. Fujitaka sees she's back to normal and is relieved so he decides to make her pancakes, her favorite breakfast. Touya is also back to normal for the most part, though still woozy from gving Yue his magic. After sitting down to eat, Sakura tells her father he's a lot like her new transfer student Eriol. Touya remarks he's met Eriol and Fujitaka says he'd like to meet Eriol too. Sakura goes off to school but doesn't see Yukito waiting, not that she wants to. She still likes Yukito, but since she doesn't love him she feels no need to bother him as much, all thanks to Shaoran. She decides to thank Shaoran and invites him to the festival at Tsukimine shrine. Eriol thanks Shaoran for making Sakura happy again and over the week Sakura keeps showing up with bandaids on her fingers, but refuses to tell anyone why. On Saturday Sakura reminds Shaoran of the festival and tells him to come to her house first. Sakura and Tomoyo then go shopping and Tomoyo asks if she will finish her project in time. Sakura says yes and is truly grateful for Shaoran listening to her when she cried over Yukito. On Sunday Shaoran comes to Sakura's house and Sakura gives him her present: a Yukata she made for him. Fujitaka helps him put it on and tells Shaoran she isn't great at sewing but tried her best and Shaoran realizes why her fingers were so injured. He also notices Fujitaka is a lot like Eriol. As they are walking to the festival, Shaoran thanks Sakura for the Yukata, Sakura tells him it is a thank you for supporting her the other day and that they will be meeting Tomoyo, Touya and Yukito at the shrine. Meanwhile, Yukito feels a bit guilty for hurting Sakura but knows he had to so she can find the person she really likes. Touya says she'll be okay once she thinks about it. They meet up with Sakura, Tomoyo and Shaoran and begin to enjoy the festival. Meanwhile, Eriol remarks he must do something, even if it spoils Sakura's nice time.
Chapter Forty-three
At the festival Sakura demands Touya buy everybody treats because he made Yukito worry, including Shaoran because he's under her protection. Touya reluctantly agrees and he, Sakura and Yukito go off to buy the snacks. Tomoyo asks Shaoran if he told her yet, and he says he never will because he doesn't wnt to trouble her. Sakura knows how uncomfortable it is when a person doesn't love the person that confessed feelings to them, and doesn't want to cause that awkwardness for her. Sakura runs over to collect the two of them and with Sakura gone, Yukito asks why Touya hates Shaoran so much. He explains in vague terms he can never like any guy that likes Sakura because that guy will take his sister away from him. Sakura returns and demands more snacks. When Touya and Yukito go to get them Yukito notices that Touya was unable to sense when his sister was nearby and wonders if it's because he lost his powers. Touya explains he gave him his powers because otherwise he'd die and that he should not feel guilty or he'll get mad. Sakura and the others wait for Touya and Yukito by a moon reflection pond and Tomoyo suggests to Sakura to try to read her fortune in the water. Sakura does and sense Clow Reed again, and suddenly a horse statue comes to life and goes on a rampage. Sakura uses Wood to try to bind it, but it escapes and destroys the lights of the festival. Shaoran tries to destroy it with an Ofuda and Sakura gets an idea. Sakura transforms Thunder and together the hit the horse and break the spell. Touya and Yukito run over to see if Sakura is okay, but Sakura is furious to find Touya gave away their snacks. The power is still out and the festival may have to be called off but Sakura goes off and transforms Glow to light up the festival. Tomoyo tells Shaoran to confess his love to Sakura because she needs someone to hold her and she won't be burdened by him. Meanwhile Nakuru asks Eriol if she can go to the festival and Eriol explains because he is done, she can.
