Book Nine

Chapter Forty-seven
The person who congratulated Sakura was Mizuki-sensei. It turns out Eriol and Mizuki met in England, and Mizuki-sensei knew all about the events but never told Sakura so she could work as hard as possible. Kero asks if Eriol had planned it like he did, and Eriol says not completely because certain things he couldn't predict, things concerning love. He explains Sakura is stronger than he is, but not stronger than Clow Reed, even though she has powers Clow Reed didn't have: including the power to control whether or not she sees the future. Everyone goes to get snacks and Eriol goes to talk with Yue, who is outside sulking. Yue asks why Eriol changed his memories and didn't say Clow Reed would be reborn. Eriol explains that he is not Clow Reed and something that dies cannot live again. He asks if Yue hates Sakura, and Yue says he doesn't and Eriol figures it is because things did not go as predicted. He assumed Yue's other form would love Sakura once she became the Mistress, but instead he fell in love with someone else, and Sakura did too. The next day Sakura runs off to school, late again and when her father says goodbye to her, he notices something: he can see the spirit of Nadeshiko and is thrilled to be with her again. Sakura figures she's late and the last one to come, but Yamazaki explains she's not: Shaoran is. He comes running into class, explaining he got a phone call from his mother. Sakura asks what that means, but Shaoran doesn't talk about it, leaving Sakura very worried. During class the teacher annouces that Eriol is going back to England and during break Sakura talks to him. She thanks him for his help and he asks her for a favor: if someone else leaves soon, she must think about her feelings for that person. After school Sakura asks Shaoran to walk her home so he can finish what he was going to tell her at Tokyo Tower. Shaoran takes her to the park and confesses that he loves her. This leaves Sakura, not sure what her feelings for him are.

Chapter Forty-eight
The next day Sakura and Tomoyo say goodbye to Eriol and Mizuki-sensei and Tomoyo notices Eriol loves very lovingly at Mizuki. Theif former teacher goes inside to bring them three presents: one for Sakura, one for Tomoyo and one for Shaoran. But at hearing Shaoran's name Sakura begins to look worried again. Eriol shakes her hand and reminds her of the favor he asked yesterday. Nakuru remarks that she'll miss playing with Touya and Yukito and Mizuki asks why Eriol created them. Eriol explained Yue and Keroberos needed opponents when Sakura and he would battle, and he knew if didn't create a new pair, Keroberos and especially Yue would continue to look for him. Plus he likes them. Eriol also says he loves Kaho just as much as Kaho loves him and Kaho is surprised that he knew. He explains he won't be able to predict things in the future, but he'll be happy to try and hopes Sakura has a happy ending too. Kaho assures him she will because Sakura is Sakura. Meanwhile, Sakura is worried about seeing Shaoran, because she is still not sure how she feels about him. Tomoyo says the thing people know least about is their own hearts but Sakura will figure it out. Back at Shaoran's apartment he calls his mother and lets him know he's leaving to go back to Hong Kong

Chapter Forty-nine
Sakura opens the present from Mizuki-sensei which is a little teddy bear brooch, this reminds her of the bear she originally made for Yukito, and the bear Shaoran left behind to her. She suddenly remembers Shaoran's love confession and runs out of the house. She remembers how she got Shaoran's teddy bear and begins to piece together the fact that Shaoran has liked her for a while, even when she still liked Yukito. As she's walking through the park Chiharu and Yamazaki notice something is wrong with her and while Yamazaki goes to get drinks, the two girls talk. Chiharu admits she and Yamazaki have been dating for a while and Sakura asks what does Chiharu does is she says something mean to Yamazaki. She says she apologizes because she loves him and doesn't mean to hurt him. Sakura realizes she has to apologize to Shaoran for not replying to him right away but still doesn't know how she feels about him. She decides to go to his apartment in order to give him Mizuki-sensei's present, but when she arrives she notices someone is moving out. She sees Shaoran and he confesses he's the one who's moving.

Chapter Fifty
Shaoran explains that now that the cards have been sealed and transformed, there is no reason for him to be in Japan. Sakura explains he didn't just help her with the cards, him being around made her happy and asks him if he really has to leave. He says he must and that he's leaving tomorrow. Sakura is stunned to hear about his sudden departure and runs away, completely heartbroken. She remembers Eriol's words about feelings for a person that will leave, and that she will love that person. As she's walking home crying she runs into Rika. Sakura notices Rika is going to go on a date and asks if the person she likes is someone older. She explains she is and Sakura asks since she can barely see the person she loves if it hurts when he's not around. Rika asks if she won't be able to see the person she likes and Sakura says shes she won't. Rika then asks if not seeing this person will mean not liking him anymore, Sakura realizes it doesn't: and she also realizes she's in love with Shaoran. She runs home and takes out some fabric to finish something special before tomorrow

Chapter Fifty-one
Sakura works all through the night to finish her project. Kero offers to help and Yukito decides to make her something to eat, even though Touya knows what she is doing and it makes him furious. Yukito delivers the food to Sakura and asks if she found the person she loves best, Sakura says she has. Yukito says if he knew he and Yue would disappear from a lack of magic he'd look for a way to survive because he would not want to be seperated from the person he loves. That a person who loves another person will do all in their power to stay with that person and will always see each other again. The next morning Sakura finishes her project and Tomoyo calls her to let her know that Shaoran's plane leaves at ten and Sakrua worries that she's too late. Tomoyo tells her not to forget her phrase: 'everything will surely be alright'. She runs out of the house but Touya tells her there's no time to catch the bus on roller skates and (reluctantly) drives Sakura there on his motorcycle. The bus is just about to drive away when Sakura runs to it and give him what she made him: a teddy bear and tells him she loves him too. Syaoran tells Sakura he'll come back when he's done with what he needs to do in Hong Kong and asks if Sakura will wait for him. She says she will, because she loves him and will wait forever if she has to.

Several years later Sakura is running late (yes, even as a middle schooler) when she runs into someone: Shaoran. He says he's finished with what he had to do in Hong Kong and can now stay forever.
