Questions and Answers about CCT

I have gotten a few questions about Cardcaptor Torika, if you have your own email me at clowprincess223@hotmail.com I will post them here in the future

Why did the Hope card look like it did before when Sakura first made it?

I chose to make it look like it first did when Sakura created it because I wanted it to seem like it didn't quite have all it's power (hence why the female form of Hope looked pretty ghostly when she was talking to Torika). She will achieve her real form in Heart Cards.

Torika in the fate of the cards sees her grandfather, so, where is Torika's grandfather?

Sadly, Aiden(Fugitaka) has died. That will be better explained in Heart Cards.

Why is the staff in "bird head" form and not "star" form?

The star staff belongs to Sakura, in the same way Clow Reed's wand belongs to Eli. The staff Torika has is a new one from when the book was sealed a second time.

You have spoken of them a lot, so, what are specials?

Specials will be chapters outside the regular story lines of CCT much in the same was as an OVA or a movie would be.

Will we see Eriol in heart cards or darkness?

Yes, Eriol/Eli will appear in Emperor of Nightmares.

Will Jeri Moon appear in Heart Cards/Emperor of Nightmares?

Jeri will be a main character in emperor of nightmares.

What program did u use to make the comics (if u used a pc program) and when u go onto the torika home page there is a graphic, what program did u use to make that?

I draw all the pages by hand, but I impute them into photoshop and Deleter Comicworks. As for that graphic, I actually drew that in paint then converted them into a gif with a gif program I downloaded from downloads.com.

Why did Sakura put away the Star Book, sealed Kero away shouldn't she always have it with her?

, Sakura didn't seal the cards herself, that will be explained later in Heart Cards.

My guess Torika might turn the cards into her own "Heart Cards" then what will happen to Sakura's magic, her Star Wand and her ability to use the cards?

Sakura will still have her wand, but once Torika transforms them, Sakura won't be able to use them anymore

Will Natsume come back anytime soon?

I can't answer about Natsume because it will be a spoiler, sorry^^

How does Natsume's father knew Li?

The Fushigi Family is very prominent as a magic family in Japan, and the Showron (AKA Li family in CCS) is very prominent in Hong Kong. Torika, however is mainly unaware of that heritage. At least for now...

Why does Madison's last name change to 'Greening'?

Madison's name change is pretty easy to explain, she got married to a photographer named Kurogane Greening

How did you come up with these names and ideas [for Cardcaptor Torika]?

It's based off of games I'd play with some of my cardcaptor toys (I'm really weird like that). Torika's name came from a hybrid of the word Takara (treasure) from a Takara Barbie I got as a gift and would make outfits for and Tori, one of my favorite characters. Maddy is short of Madison (not a mega creative leap there) Tai means 'warrior', though originally his name would have been Chai (tea anyone? LOL). Natsume is named after the Japanese name for Sabrina from Pokemon and Hana means Flower.

I see you added in Fai; who I ONLY know from Tsubasa Chronicles. Does this mean there really IS a tie-in between CC/CCS and TC? And, if so, will we see appearances from any OTHER TC characters (like "Kuro-pipi)? Sorry, I couldn't resist! It's HILARIOUS how Fai and Mokona tease Kurogane!

Well, there is a tie-in and there isn't. I added Fai to Cardcaptor Torika (and Kurogane who is Maddy and Tai's father) because I love those characters and it is said in the series that various versions of the same people can exist in different universes. But there is also a tie-in from the original CCS and the current series through xxxHolic. In xxxHolic Clow Reed, the same Clow Reed from CC/CCS interacted with Yuuko-san, and of course Yuuko crosses into Tsubasa

Towards the start of CCT (don't know if you still do), did you use the 'The art of drawing and creating MANGA' books by Peter Grey (think that's him ;3) for your art style, because I noticed in one issue where you didnt rub out the pencil lines properly that you use the same planning style?

No, I didn't use those books, though I did learn how to draw manga from other art books. The first how-to-draw books I used were by Chris Hart, and I also used the "How to draw manga" books by Manga U.

Is Torika ever going to like someone at all?

Sorry but that would be a spoiler ^^

In "Lost in the Forest", was the fox spirit Inu'Yasha?

Excellent question, but no. In Inu Yasha, he's a dog demon, not a fox spirit. But I would lying if I said Inu Yasha didn't inspire this issue. I am a somewhat fanatical Inu Yasha fan ^^

Will you do a comic book similar to the episode in 'Cardcaptors', when Kero and Yue couldn't return to their true forms? That one was really funny!

No, I will not have a chapter similiar to that episode, though I admit that was one of my favorites ^^

I saw that in a question you answered earlier that Tai's name translates to "warrior". I looked the word "tai" up in a Japanese-English dictionary and it said that it meant "sea bream", so I'm supposing that you don't mean it in Japanese. So what language is it?

It is in Japanese. You have to understand the word 'Tai' has multiple meanings, homophone of each other (words that sound alike but have different meanings). For example the word for the number 4 is 'shi' but 'shi' also means 'death' (hence why four is such an unlucky number)

I was just wondering something, does Sakura still have magical powers or have they now disappeared?

Yes, Sakura still has her magical powers, she just no longer can use the cards since they now draw their power from Torika.

What got you into doing NatsumeXTai?

It actually just sorta snuck up on me. At first, Nastume and Tai hated each other, and originally they were just going to end up good friends since Natsume isn't as big a brat as she acts, and Tai is an extremely patient and kind guy. But around chapter 16, I thought I'd add some romance to the series and well, when Tai gave Natsume that box of cards as an apology, the moment happened. And as they say, the rest is history.

In the "Ties that Bind" chapter, the doctors said that Tai died, was he really dead? Because technically, you can't heal someone who's dead, right? And if he was still alive, than why did the doctor say he was dead?

I can understand if you're a little confused, that chapter was more about emotion than realism anyway, but what happened in the chapter was not impossible. A person who flat-lines and is legally dead (IE brain dead) can be resusitated (though a brain dead person stays in a vegetative state and never wake up, that's different that what Sakura was in). The Heal Card was able to resuscitate him, and cure any brain damage that may have resulted from flat-lining for so long. But he wasn't dead long enough for decay or rigor mortis to set it (I know that sounds really gross), in reality, the timing of the final chapter would probably take place in about ten minutes. So even if Tai was dead-dead (instead of mostly dead, sorry, bad Princess Bride reference) it was only in the sense of modern medical jargon.

Why does Tsuki have a moon on his head? I know "tsuki" means moon, but why does he have one on his?

No real reason, (meaning it's not some kind of foreshadowing or power related deal). Mostly because I am a big Sailor Moon fan and thought Torika's dog needed something distinct about him.

Is Sonomi (Samantha) going to show up in the series, or she dead or something?

Unlike Aiden/Fujitaka who has passed away, Sonomi/Samantha is just fine. Whenever Maddy or Tai refer to something 'made by our grandmother's company' they are talking about her. Since I none of the plots I wrote out for the series focuses a whole lot on Tai and Maddy's extended family, she doesn't really have a part. However, there will be a cameo of her in my upcoming special 'Stories from the Sakura Book'
