Cardcaptor Kaoru by NekoKiddChapter 2"What's a cardcaptor? Who are you? WHAT are you?" I asked the "teddy bear". "I'm Keroberos, the guardian of the car-" He started. It then got a panicked look on his face. "Wait, I just remembered!" It started flying around, panicky. "This is bad- very bad!" "What's bad?" I asked. "You letting out the cards, that's what!" "And, why is that bad?" "Because that might kill Torika!" He said, flailing his arms. He was very frantic, and it was clear why. "KA! What! You mean, Torika Showron! This is bad-very bad! What do I have to do?" I asked, flailing about like the bear. "Get the cards back, that's what! You must use the key!" He said, calming down somewhat, with a key in his hands. The head of the key was blue, with an golden, eagle-shaped beak. The eyes were red, and each was connected to a wing. The actual key part was gold, and small compared to the head, though long enough to not be blocked by the beak. A curtain of light enveloped my room. I slowly rose from my lying position, and stretched while yawning. I looked around my room, and saw the teddy bear from last night sleeping on my dresser! So it wasn't a dream. I sighed. I looked at my room. It had a musical flair about it- there was a karaoke machine, a guitar, and a drum set. The border had a bunch of music notes on it, and a music staff. The room was an orange color, as was my matching bed spread. I had a gold colored bookcase next to my dresser, where I had my favorite books and pictures of my friends and family. Even mom…… A yawn took my away from my thoughts. Kero had just gotten up, and was looking at me. "So, what's your name? I should get that from the new cardcaptor." He said, looking wide awake. "I'm Kaoru Moon. Why do you keep calling me 'cardcaptor'?" I asked, looking at him with a confused look on my face. This was turning out a lot like some of the stories I've read. If he says the fate of the world depends on me, I will so totally kill the author of this story. "The cardcaptor is the person who captures the magical cards if they're let loose." He said. When he heard footsteps outside, he froze up, and hid under my bed. In came my dad, who had my apron on-oh no. I don't even know how he fit into that thing- being the father of a chef hasn't been kind to him, plus I'm one of the smallest kids in my grade- but, what's worse is that there was smoke following him. He must have cooked. I sweat dropped, before getting up to clean up whatever mess he made and make breakfast. After breakfast, I was completely ready for school, and was running to school, when Daiki skateboarded in front of me, causing me to trip and fall onto him. "You know better than to get in front of me, Daiki!" I said, rubbing my throbbing head. At least he had a helmet. He had a stupid grin on his face. "Sorry!" He said "But I just got good news from Miyuki! She says that Hiita just broke up with her current boyfriend, and is open!" He said. Let me explain. Hiita is every boy's crush. She had long, black hair, and perfect skin. She was… well developed for a girl our age. I was guessing Daiki was going to ask me to help him get her, but he just continued skating to school. I ran after him. That day at school, I watched as our demon of a teacher, Ms. Mori, started giving us a pop quiz! This is one of the reasons why math is not my strong suit. I was the last one done, and Ms. Mori had me stay after class. "How is it you could have failed this test and taken this much time to finish?" She asked, untying her blond ponytail. She was one of the reasons why I loved blond jokes- Miyuki's not a natural blond. "I just don't like math." I said, looking her in the eye. Most other kids would have looked at the floor, but not me. Having a English father has its advantage's. She just told me to sit down and study for 5 minutes. I grudgingly did it. After school, Daiki had a baseball game, and Miyuki wanted me to model for her. I sighed as she made me go home with her. When a familiar yellow face showed up in my backpack, I knew something was wrong. "There's a Heart Card here?!" I almost yelled in the bathroom. I heard thunder outside. That couldn't have been good for Daiki's game. Kero nodded. I was in one of Miyuki's new thunder-storm fashions. It was a yellow rubber shirt with white, rubber, long sleeves. It had a yellow hood. The pants were yellow, and it had white boots. I sighed. "It's the thunder card. Good thing you're wearing rubber. Here." He said "You need to say a chant to return the key to it's true form." I looked at it. A magical feeling came over me as I held it. I closed my eyes, and wind whipped around me. I magic circle appeared under me, and the key hovered between my hands. "Oh key of the heart, power of magic, power of light, surrender the wand, the force ignite. Release!" The key lengthened, and became a staff. The head enlarged, and it looked magical. "Now what? Am I supposed to go outside in this?" I said to Kero. He nodded. I felt tempted to flush him down the toilet he was standing on. I decided against it. I stood on the stool and slipped out the window, little did I know Miyuki had heard every word. Outside, it was horrible. Lighting was everywhere. Kero had followed me, and was hanging onto my coat. I blocked my eyes from the flash of lightning in front of me. I moved my hand, and right there was a tiger- MADE OF LIGHTNING! "KA!!! YOU DIDN'T SAY THAT WAS THE CARD!" I said, panicking. I calmed myself down a bit, enough to get composed. "Reseal to your true form confined-Release!" I lowered my wand to go right in front of the tiger. "Lightning card!" A blank card of light appeared in front of me, making the wind whip around faster. Then the card became the thunder, and the storm stopped. "That was AMAZING!" Miyuki said when we got back inside. "How'd you do that? It made my outfit look amazing! I have to make more!" She had hearts in her eyes, thinking of the possibilities. "You saw that?!" I said. I sighed. "Kero, is her knowing going to endanger my mom?" I asked Kero. "Not that I know of." "Great. Now what?" "Well, I say you write your name on that card." "Why?" "Because, if you don't, it will get out again." I sighed, taking a sharpie from Miyuki's father's desk. I quickly wrote the name of the card on the back. Then, Kero explained the Heart cards to Miyuki and me. About how Torika draws power from them, and vice versa. And, in her absence, she no longer can draw power from them, but they can from her. So, I have to get the cards before they sap all her energy away. Great. I went back to my house, to get dinner ready for my dad before he burnt the house down. And with the cards loose…. I have to get home now! I waved goodbye to Miyuki, ran back home, tripping once, and then getting back to running. TO BE CONTINUED… |
